# Creating & Managing Projects

Projects are the foundation of your work in Blings. Each project contains the scenes, media, and logic that make up your personalized video experience. This section covers everything you need to create and manage your projects, from initial setup to fine-tuning the visual design.

## What You'll Find Here

* Create a Project — Start a new project by choosing a use case and picking a template.
* Scene Management — Add, move, duplicate, and organize the scenes inside your project.
* Scenes & Flow Maps — Set up connectors, conditions, and A/B tests to control how viewers move through your project.
* Editing a Scene — Add and configure text, media, buttons, and personalization elements inside each scene.
* Branding, Design, & General Content — Apply fonts, colors, logos, and background music consistently across your project.

# Create a Project

Creating a project in Blings is quick and straightforward. In just a few clicks, you choose a use case, pick a template, and land directly in the editor — ready to build your personalized video campaign.

## Step 1: Click "+ Create new"

From your Your Projects home screen, click the + Create new button in the top-left corner of the sidebar. This opens the two-step project creation modal.

## Step 2: Choose a Use Case

The modal opens on Step 1 of 2: Use Case. Select the category that best fits your campaign goal. There are five options to choose from:

* Promotions — Mark milestones and show appreciation with tailored rewards.
* User's Anniversary — Celebrate user progress and drive new actions with clear rewards.
* Birthday — Boost engagement and sales with timely, irresistible offers.
* Loyalty Tier Upgrade — Recognize loyalty milestones and encourage further engagement.
* Welcome — Make a strong first impression and guide users from day one.

## Step 3: Choose a Template

After selecting a use case, you move to Step 2 of 2: Template. You'll see a gallery of pre-built templates tailored to your chosen category. Each card shows a visual preview and a short description of what the template is designed to do. Click any template to select it and continue.

## Step 4: Start Building in the Editor

Once you select a template, you land directly in the project editor. Your project is automatically named after the template you selected — you can rename it at any time by clicking the title at the top of the editor. From here, you can customize scenes, add personalization data, and build out your video flow. To learn more about working in the editor, visit Scenes & Flow Maps.

### What's Next

Once your project is created, here is where to go next. Use Scene Management to add, move, and duplicate scenes. Head to Scenes & Flow Maps to set up the connectors and logic that control how scenes connect. Visit Editing a Scene to learn how to work with text, media, buttons, and personalization inside each scene. When you're ready to apply fonts, colors, and logos across your project, see Branding, Design, & General Content.

# Scenes & Flow Maps

The flow map shows you how all of your scenes connect and the different paths a viewer can take through your project. This article covers how connectors work, how to add conditions to control which path is followed, and how to set up A/B tests to compare different variations.

## Connectors

Connectors are the arrows between scenes on the flow map. They define what happens after a scene ends — specifically, which scene plays next. To create a connector, hover over a scene card until an arrow handle appears on its edge, then drag from that handle to the target scene. A scene can have multiple outgoing connectors, one for each possible path a viewer can take.

### Conditions

Conditions let you control which path a viewer follows based on their choices or data. When a scene has multiple outgoing connectors, you can add a condition to each one to define when it should activate. For example, you might route viewers to different scenes depending on whether they clicked "Yes" or "No" on an interactive element, or based on a personalization variable tied to their profile. To configure a condition, click on a connector arrow in the flow map and use the settings panel to define the trigger logic. Blings evaluates all outgoing conditions in order and follows the first one that matches.

### A/B Tests

A/B tests let you split viewers between two or more scene paths to compare which version performs better. You can test different messages, layouts, calls to action, or anything that affects how viewers engage. To set up an A/B test, create multiple outgoing connectors from one scene and set each connector to use a percentage-based split. For example, 50% of viewers will follow one path and 50% will follow another. Each path leads to its own variant scene. You can then compare how each variant performs in your project analytics to see which resonates more with your audience.

### What's Next

With your flow mapped out, you're ready to start editing the content inside each scene. Head to Editing a Scene to learn how to work with text, media, buttons, and personalization elements. For more advanced branching options including quizzes and timers, see Workflows & Branching Logic.

# Scene Management

Scenes are the building blocks of your video flow. You can add new scenes at any point, rearrange them to fit your narrative, and duplicate existing ones to save time. This article walks you through each of those actions.

### Add a Scene

To add a new scene, click the + icon that appears between or after scenes in the flow map. A panel opens with two tabs to choose from:

* Generic — Browse a library of pre-built scene layouts. These are ready-to-use templates covering common structures like text-only, text with image, countdown, and more. Select a layout that fits your needs, then fill in your own content.
* In this project — Reuse a scene layout that already exists in your current project. This is useful when you want visual consistency without starting from scratch. The new scene inherits the same structure and will adopt your project branding automatically.

Select the layout you want and click Add scene. The scene will appear in your flow and automatically inherit your project's branding.

### Move a Scene

To change the order of scenes, drag a scene card left or right along the flow map. Blings repositions it and keeps all existing connections intact — reordering never breaks your logic or connectors.

### Duplicate a Scene

To duplicate a scene, click the ... menu on its card and choose Duplicate. A copy appears immediately in your flow with the same content, layout, and branding as the original. Edit the duplicate independently — this is handy for creating variations or extending a flow with a similar scene structure.

### What's Next

Once your scenes are in place, the next step is connecting them and defining how viewers move between them. To learn about connectors, conditions, and A/B tests, see Scenes & Flow Maps.

# Editing a Scene

Each scene in your project is made up of individual components that you can add, arrange, and configure inside the scene editor. This article walks through each type of component and how to work with it.

### Text

Text elements let you add and edit written content inside a scene. You can type directly into any text block, apply formatting like bold, italic, or underline, and adjust the font size and alignment. Text blocks can also include dynamic variables, which pull in personalized data at playback time so each viewer sees content that is relevant to them.

### Media

Media elements let you add images, videos, and GIFs to a scene. You can upload files directly from your computer or pull from the project's media library. For videos, you can trim the start and end points to use only the portion you need. Images and videos can be resized and repositioned within the scene canvas, and you can layer them with other elements to build the visual composition you want.

### Buttons

Buttons are interactive elements that viewers can click during playback. You can configure a button's label, style, and action — for example, navigating to a URL, triggering the next scene, or capturing a viewer's choice to drive branching logic. Buttons are key to making your project interactive and can be styled to match your branding using the design settings.

### Personalization

Personalization elements display data-driven content that changes for each viewer based on the variables in your data source. You can insert a personalization element anywhere in a scene and map it to a field from your connected data — for example, a viewer's name, company, or any custom value. At playback time, Blings replaces the element with the correct value for that viewer, creating a unique experience for every person who watches.

### What's Next

Once your scenes are built, you can control how they connect and the paths viewers take through your project. See Scenes & Flow Maps to learn about connectors, conditions, and A/B tests. To update the visual style across your project, including fonts, colors, and logos, head to Branding, Design, & General Content.

# Branding, Design, & General Content

The Branding, Design, & General Content settings apply visual styles and global elements across your entire project. This is where you set fonts, colors, and logos so that every scene looks consistent, and where you can add background music that plays throughout. To access these settings, open your project and look for the General Content panel on the right side of the editor.

## Customization Options

* **Fonts:** Choose from our curated list of fonts or upload your own. Apply a font globally so all text follows your style.
* **Colors:** Set primary and secondary colors for text and backgrounds. These colors become the default for buttons, headings and highlights.
* **Logos:** Upload your logo and position it at the top, bottom or corner of scenes. You can apply it globally or per scene.
* **Soundtracks:** Add background music that plays across scenes. Adjust the volume and choose loop settings.

### What's Next

With your branding set, you're ready to refine how your project flows and performs. Head to [Scenes & Flow Maps](/app/creating-managing-projects/scenes-flow-maps) to set up connectors, conditions, and A/B tests, review [Accessibility & Language Support](/app/creating-managing-projects/accessibility-language-support), or go back to Editing a Scene to continue working on individual scene components.

# Accessibility & Language Support

Use accessibility and language checks before sharing a project with real viewers. These checks help keep text readable, interactive elements clear, and localized versions consistent across scenes.

## Accessibility Basics

Before publishing, confirm:

* Text has enough contrast against the background.
* Important text is large enough to read on mobile.
* Buttons and interactive elements use clear labels.
* The video still makes sense when audio is muted.
* Key information is not communicated by color alone.
* Viewers have enough time to read and act.

## Language and Localization

For translated or multi-language projects:

* Keep one approved source of truth for translated copy.
* Preview long translated values because text length can change by language.
* Check line breaks, alignment, and text fitting in every scene.
* Create separate scene variants when a language needs different layout or timing.
* Test links, dates, currencies, numbers, and right-to-left text when relevant.

## Captions and On-Screen Text

Use captions or visible summary text when the viewer may watch without sound. Keep captions short, readable, and synchronized with the scene timing.

If captions are part of the creative, review them as visible scene content before publishing.

# Branching Basics

Branching logic lets you build interactive experiences that adapt to each viewer. Instead of showing everyone the same sequence, you can direct viewers to different scenes based on their answers or data.

## What Is Branching Logic?

Branching logic creates multiple paths through your video content. Each viewer follows a unique journey based on:

* Their responses to questions
* Data from your CRM or database
* Time-based conditions
* Previous interactions

## When to Use Branching

**Simple Branches (Yes/No):**

* "Would you like to see our premium features?"
* "Are you interested in a demo?"
* "Should we send you more information?"

**Data-Driven Branches:**

* Show different content based on user type (new vs. returning)
* Display relevant products based on purchase history
* Customize offers based on location or preferences

**Complex Scenarios:**

* Multi-step quizzes with scoring
* Progressive disclosure of information
* A/B testing different messages

## Basic Branching Example

```
Start → Question: "Are you a new customer?"
         ├─ Yes → Welcome scene → Product intro
         └─ No → Loyalty offer → Personalized recommendations
```

## Best Practices

* **Keep it simple** — Start with basic yes/no branches before adding complexity
* **Test your logic** — Preview all possible paths to ensure they work correctly
* **Provide clear options** — Make choices obvious and actionable
* **Include fallbacks** — Always have a default path for unexpected scenarios

***

**Ready to build your first branch?** Learn how to [visualize your flow](/app/workflows-branching-logic/logic-map-flow-builder) or set up [simple conditions](/app/workflows-branching-logic/simple-conditions).

# Logic Map / Flow Builder

The flow builder provides a visual way to design and understand your branching logic. Think of it as a map that shows every possible path a viewer can take through your content.

## Understanding the Flow Builder

The flow builder displays your scenes as nodes connected by arrows. Each arrow represents a possible path, and the connections show how viewers move from one scene to the next.

## Adding Nodes and Connections

### Creating New Scenes

1. **Add a scene** — Click the "+" button to create a new scene
2. **Choose a layout** — Select from templates or start with a blank scene
3. **Add content** — Include text, images, and interactive elements

### Connecting Scenes

1. **Drag to connect** — Click and drag from one scene to another to create a connection
2. **Set conditions** — Click on the connection line to define when this path should be taken
3. **Add labels** — Name your connections (e.g., "Yes," "No," "Continue")

## Visual Flow Example

```
[Welcome Scene]
    │
    ├─ "New Customer" → [Onboarding Flow]
    │
    └─ "Returning Customer" → [Loyalty Offer]
```

## Flow Builder Tips

* **Use descriptive names** — Name your scenes clearly so the flow is easy to understand
* **Group related scenes** — Organize your flow logically from left to right
* **Test all paths** — Use the preview mode to walk through every possible journey
* **Keep it clean** — Avoid crossing connection lines when possible

## Advanced Features

* **Zoom and pan** — Navigate large flows easily
* **Collapse sections** — Hide complex branches to focus on specific areas
* **Export flow** — Share your flow diagram with teammates
* **Version history** — Track changes to your flow over time

***

**Need help with specific conditions?** Learn about [simple conditions](/app/workflows-branching-logic/simple-conditions) or [advanced logic](/app/workflows-branching-logic/advanced-conditions).

# Simple Conditions

Simple conditions are the building blocks of branching logic. They let you create basic yes/no paths or route viewers based on a single piece of data.

## Yes/No Conditions

The most common type of branching uses simple yes/no responses to guide viewers down different paths.

### Examples:

* **"Would you like to see our premium features?"**
  * Yes → Show premium features demo
  * No → Continue with basic features
* **"Are you interested in a free trial?"**
  * Yes → Direct to signup page
  * No → Show pricing information
* **"Should we send you more information?"**
  * Yes → Collect email and send follow-up
  * No → Thank you message

## Single-Variable Conditions

Route viewers based on one piece of data from your CRM or user input.

### User Type Conditions:

* **New vs. Returning Customer**
  * New → Welcome and onboarding
  * Returning → Loyalty rewards
* **User Role**
  * Manager → Team management features
  * Individual → Personal productivity tools

### Data-Based Conditions:

* **Location**
  * US → Show US-specific offers
  * International → Show global options
* **Purchase History**
  * First-time buyer → Welcome discount
  * Repeat customer → VIP benefits

## Setting Up Simple Conditions

1. **Create your question or data field**
2. **Add two scenes** (one for each possible outcome)
3. **Connect with conditions** — Set "If \[condition] then go to \[scene]"
4. **Test both paths** — Preview to ensure logic works correctly

## Best Practices

* **Keep options clear** — Make choices obvious and mutually exclusive
* **Provide value in both paths** — Each branch should offer something useful
* **Use natural language** — Frame questions in a conversational way
* **Include a default** — Always have a fallback for unexpected responses

***

**Ready for more complexity?** Learn about [advanced conditions](/app/workflows-branching-logic/advanced-conditions) that combine multiple criteria.

# Advanced Conditions

Advanced conditions let you create sophisticated branching logic by combining multiple criteria. Use AND/OR operators to build complex decision trees that respond to multiple data points.

## AND/OR Logic

### AND Conditions (All Must Be True)

Use AND when you want ALL conditions to be met before taking a specific path.

**Example:**

```
IF user_type = "VIP" AND location = "US" AND purchase_count > 5
THEN show exclusive VIP offer
```

### OR Conditions (Any Can Be True)

Use OR when you want to take a path if ANY of the conditions are met.

**Example:**

```
IF user_type = "VIP" OR total_spent > $1000 OR subscription_length > 12_months
THEN show premium features
```

## Complex Decision Trees

### Multi-Level Branching

Create sophisticated flows that consider multiple factors:

```
Start → Check User Type
# Variables & Data Fields
Variables and data fields let you capture, store, and reuse information throughout your video flow. Track user responses, personalize content, and create dynamic experiences that adapt to each viewer.
## What Are Variables?
Variables are containers that store data during a viewer's journey through your video. They can hold:
* User responses to questions
* Data from your CRM or database
* Calculated values (scores, totals, etc.)
* System information (time, date, etc.)
## Types of Variables
### User Input Variables
Capture responses from interactive elements:
**Examples:**
* `user_name` — "John Smith"
* `company_size` — "Enterprise"
* `budget_range` — "$10,000-$50,000"
* `preferred_features` — \["Analytics", "Automation"]
### Calculated Variables
Derived from user interactions or data processing:
**Examples:**
* `quiz_score` — 85 (calculated from answers)
* `total_points` — 150 (sum of all interactions)
* `time_spent` — 245 (seconds in video)
* `completion_percentage` — 75%
### System Variables
Automatically provided by the platform:
**Examples:**
* `current_time` — "2024-01-15 14:30:00"
* `viewer_id` — "user\_12345"
* `session_start` — "2024-01-15 14:25:00"
* `device_type` — "mobile"
## Using Variables in Your Flow
### Displaying Variables
Show variable values in your content:
**Examples:**
* "Hello, {{user\_name}}!"
* "Your score: {{quiz\_score}}/100"
* "Based on your {{company\_size}} needs..."
* "You've earned {{total\_points}} points"
### Conditional Logic
Use variables to control branching:
**Examples:**
```
IF quiz_score >= 80 THEN show "Advanced" content
IF company_size = "Enterprise" THEN show enterprise features
IF total_points > 100 THEN show bonus offer
```
### Dynamic Content
Personalize based on stored data:
**Examples:**
* Show different product recommendations based on `preferred_features`
* Display custom pricing based on `budget_range`
* Adjust content length based on `time_spent`
## Real-World Examples
### Customer Onboarding Flow
```
Variables captured:
- user_name: "Sarah Johnson"

### Variable Persistence

Store variables across sessions:

**Examples:**

* Remember user preferences for future visits
* Track cumulative engagement across multiple videos
* Build user profiles over time

## Best Practices

### Variable Naming

# What is a Resize Trigger?

A Resize Trigger is a feature that ensures dynamic text elements in your video automatically scale to fit their designated area—no matter how short or long the content is.

This is especially useful in personalized videos where text length can vary depending on the viewer’s data (like names, cities, or product names). Instead of manually adjusting each design or risking awkward overflows, Resize Triggers allow you to maintain a clean, consistent layout across all variations.

### How It Works

When you apply a Resize Trigger to a text layer:

* The system monitors the text length and resizes the font or adjusts spacing accordingly.
* It ensures the text never spills out of its container, and maintains design integrity.

This is particularly important when using:

* Names of different lengths (e.g., “Jo” vs. “Alexandrianna”)
* Dynamic tokens from CRM data
* Multilingual content with varied word lengths

### When to Use Resize Triggers

* In templates designed for mass personalization
* When working with dynamic tokens or data-bound text
* When using scalable design systems that need to maintain alignment and spacing rules

### Best Practices

* Test your design using sample data sets with short, average, and long inputs.

URL parameters are key-value pairs added to the end of a video URL that pass data directly to the video. They allow for instant personalization without requiring data to be uploaded beforehand.

## Basic URL Parameter Structure

### Standard Format

```
https://your-video-url.com/video?parameter=value&parameter2=value2
```

### Example URLs

```
https://app.blings.com/video/abc123?name=John&company=Acme
https://app.blings.com/video/abc123?first_name=Sarah&industry=Technology&budget=50000
https://app.blings.com/video/abc123?email=john@company.com&role=Manager&size=Enterprise
```

## Common URL Parameters

### Personal Information

```
?first_name=John
?last_name=Smith
?email=john.smith@company.com
?phone=+1-555-123-4567
```

### Company Information

```
?company=Acme Corporation
?industry=Technology
?company_size=Enterprise
?job_title=Marketing Director
?department=Marketing
```

### Custom Data

```
?customer_id=12345
?product_interests=analytics,automation
?budget_range=50000-100000
?timeline=3_months
?use_case=lead_generation
```

## Using URL Parameters in Your Videos

### Text Personalization

Insert URL parameter values into your video content:

**Examples:**

* "Hello, {{first\_name}}!" (from `?first_name=John`)
* "Welcome to {{company}}!" (from `?company=Acme`)
* "As a {{job\_title}}, you'll love..." (from `?job_title=Manager`)

### Conditional Content

Show different content based on URL parameters:

**Examples:**

* `{{if company_size = "Enterprise"}}Enterprise features{{else}}Standard features{{/if}}`
* `{{if industry = "Healthcare"}}HIPAA-compliant solutions{{else}}Standard security{{/if}}`
* `{{if budget_range = "50000-100000"}}Premium package{{else}}Basic package{{/if}}`

### Dynamic CTAs

Customize call-to-action buttons:

**Examples:**

* "Schedule a demo for {{company}}" (from `?company=Acme`)
* "Get {{personalized\_offer}} now" (from `?personalized_offer=20% discount`)
* "Contact {{sales\_rep}}" (from `?sales_rep=Sarah Johnson`)

## Real-World Examples

### Sales Outreach

```
https://app.blings.com/video/abc123?first_name=John&company=Acme&industry=Technology&budget=75000&sales_rep=Sarah
Video content:
"Hi {{first_name}}! I noticed {{company}} is in the {{industry}} space.
Given your {{budget}} budget, I think you'd be perfect for our Enterprise plan.
{{sales_rep}} from our team would love to show you how we can help."
```

### Product Demo

```
https://app.blings.com/video/def456?name=Mike&role=CTO&company_size=Startup&use_case=scaling
Video content:
"{{name}}, as a {{role}} at a {{company_size}} company, I know you're focused on {{use_case}}.
Let me show you how our platform can help you scale efficiently..."
```

### Event Invitation

```
https://app.blings.com/video/ghi789?first_name=Lisa&industry=Finance&location=New York&event_date=March 15
Video content:
"{{first_name}}, we're hosting a {{industry}} summit in {{location}} on {{event_date}}.
As a leader in the {{industry}} space, we'd love to have you join us..."
```

## Best Practices

### URL Structure

* **Keep it clean** — Use simple, descriptive parameter names
* **Encode special characters** — Use URL encoding for spaces and special characters
* **Limit parameter count** — Too many parameters can make URLs unwieldy
* **Use consistent naming** — Follow a standard format across all URLs

### Data Handling

* **Validate parameters** — Check for required parameters and valid formats
* **Provide fallbacks** — Have default values for missing parameters
* **Sanitize input** — Clean and validate all parameter data
* **Handle errors gracefully** — Show appropriate content for invalid parameters

### Security Considerations

* **Don't include sensitive data** — Avoid passwords, API keys, or personal identifiers
* **Use HTTPS** — Always use secure URLs for parameter passing
* **Validate on server side** — Don't trust client-side parameter validation
* **Log parameter usage** — Track which parameters are being used

## Advanced URL Parameter Features

### Multiple Values

Pass arrays or multiple values:

```
?interests=analytics,automation,reporting
?products=product1,product2,product3
?features=feature1&features=feature2&features=feature3
```

### Encoded Values

Handle special characters and spaces:

```
?company=Acme%20Corporation (space encoded as %20)
?name=Jos%C3%A9 (accented character encoded)
?message=Hello%20World (multiple spaces encoded)
```

### Dynamic URL Generation

Create URLs programmatically:

**JavaScript Example:**

```javascript
const params = new URLSearchParams({
  first_name: 'John',
  company: 'Acme',
  industry: 'Technology'
});
const url = `https://app.blings.com/video/abc123?${params}`;
```

## Integration Examples

### CRM Integration

Generate personalized URLs from your CRM:

```
https://app.blings.com/video/abc123?first_name={{contact.first_name}}&company={{contact.company}}&industry={{contact.industry}}
```

### Email Marketing

Include personalized video links in emails:

```
"Hi {{first_name}}, check out this personalized demo: https://app.blings.com/video/abc123?name={{first_name}}&company={{company}}"
```

### Website Integration

Pass visitor data to videos:

```
https://app.blings.com/video/abc123?referrer=website&page=product&interest={{current_product}}
```

## Common Use Cases

* **Sales outreach and demos**
* **Email marketing campaigns**
* **Website personalization**
* **Event invitations**
* **Product recommendations**
* **Customer onboarding**
* **Lead nurturing**

# Turn your video link into a high-performing email

You've copied your video link, great! Now here's how to put it in front of the right people with an email setup that drives opens and clicks.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Open your email editor

Head to your email platform and create a new campaign or one-off email.

{% hint style="info" %}
If you'd like to start small, you can send this email to a subset of your audience.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Write a subject line that gets your email opened

We recommend using a subject line that feels personal and makes the recipient curious to open. Here's one that works well:

> Subject example: **We created a video especially for you**

{% hint style="info" %}
**Why this works**

This subject line feels personal and creates curiosity, your customer sees that something was made just for them, which drives higher open rates compared to generic subject lines.

Feel free to personalize it further — for example, add your recipient's name or reference your product. The key is to keep it short, personal, and intriguing.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Add a "Watch your video" CTA

In your email, add a clear and prominent "**Watch your video**" CTA button. Make it the focal point of your email design.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Why this works**

A dedicated "Watch your video" CTA button drives higher click-through rates because it feels personal and action-oriented. The more clearly the button stands out, the more customers will click it — regardless of the marketing use case.

Don't bury it under long paragraphs. A focused email with a strong CTA consistently outperforms a cluttered one.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Paste the video link as the CTA link address

In your email editor, select the "Watch your video" CTA button and open its settings. Paste the video-link you copied from Blings as the button's destination URL.

{% hint style="info" %}

#### **Every element works together to maximize exposure**

Whatever your use case — product demo, onboarding, outreach, or campaign recap — this structure consistently gets more of your customers to actually watch your video.

<i class="fa-check">:check:</i> **Relevant subject line -** More customers open the email in the first place

<i class="fa-check">:check:</i> **Focused intro -** Keeps the reader engaged and moving toward the CTA

<i class="fa-check">:check:</i> **"Watch your video" CTA -** Drives higher click-through and gets more eyes on your video

<i class="fa-check">:check:</i> **Video link as destination** - Every click lands the customer on their personalized video
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Run it as an A/B test first

If you'd like to compare Blings' impact against your existing campaign before committing to a full send, start with a subset of your audience. Send the Blings video email to a portion of your list, and keep your regular email running for the rest. Then let the results speak for themselves.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

### Good to know

A common question new clients raise:

> "Before Blings, customers clicked my email CTA and went straight to my landing page.\
> Now the video is in between — what's the benefit?"

This is a great question, and the short answer is in what happens before customers reach your landing page

**The video warms up your customers before they arrive**

Previously, a customer would click your CTA and land on your page cold, with no context, no connection, and no emotional pull. With Blings, they watch a personalized video first. By the time they reach your landing page, they're already engaged, informed, and primed to act.\
A warmed-up visitor is far more likely to convert. That extra step isn't a detour — it's what turns a passive click into an engaged customer.

{% hint style="info" %}
**What to expect**

Clients who use Blings as a warm-up step consistently see higher engagement on their landing pages, compared to sending customers there directly.
{% endhint %}

# General Integration Concepts

## Embed Options: Video Link vs Visual Placeholder

| Method                               | Where to add in your CRM | How-to                                                                                                             |
| ------------------------------------ | ------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Video Link (URL)** | Button/Image link field | Copy the PURL from Blings and paste it into the link/URL setting of your email component. |
| **Visual Placeholder (HTML banner)** | HTML/Code content block | In Blings, click **Copy HTML**. In your CRM’s email editor, drag in an HTML (or Code) block and paste the snippet. |

## Test Your CRM Integration

<details>

<summary>Test your CRM integration</summary>

* Send to at least two contacts with/without first name.
* Click-through opens video with correct data.
* Analytics event logs viewer’s email/ID.
* Mobile and desktop rendering verified.

</details>

## Link-Tracking & UTM Best Practices

Use UTM parameters to measure video link performance:

```markdown
https://app.blings.io/xyz/embed?name={{ contact.firstname }}&utm_source=hubspot&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=onboarding
```

* Set **utm\_source** to the CRM or tool.
* Set **utm\_medium** to email, push, etc.
* Set **utm\_campaign** to match your internal campaign name.
* Track results in Google Analytics or your BI tool.

## Merge‑Tag Quick‑Reference Table

| Platform       | First‑Name Syntax         | Notes                               |
| -------------- | ------------------------- | ----------------------------------- |
| HubSpot        | `{{ contact.firstname }}` | Supports default values             |
| SFMC           | `%%FirstName%%`           | Works in Email Studio & CloudPages  |
| Klaviyo        | `{{ first_name }}`        | Filters: `default:''`, `url_encode` |
| Braze          | `{{${first_name}}}`       | Liquid subset                       |
| Iterable       | `{{recipient.firstName}}` | Case‑sensitive                      |
| ActiveCampaign | `%FIRSTNAME%`             | Use Personalize → First Name        |
| Mailchimp      | \`\*                      | FNAME                               |
| Marketo        | `{{lead.First Name}}`     | Add `:default=` filter              |
| Zoho           | `${Contacts.First Name}`  | Type `#` to insert                  |
| Pipedrive      | `{{Person First Name}}`   | Insert field button                 |

{% hint style="info" %}
Use URL‑safe encoding on text variables that may contain spaces; most CRMs offer a `url_encode` filter or equivalent.
{% endhint %}

5. In the text block, the token will appear as a **closed element** (not the actual token).
6. To copy the actual token, go to **More → Source code.** This opens the HTML view.

<div data-with-frame="true"><figure><img src="/files/0LcQUxFY2nbr4UxH16gp" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

7. In the HTML, you’ll see the actual token. For example: `{{ company.name }}`

<div data-with-frame="true"><figure><img src="/files/gFOutuedbZUrjxTeirHf" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

8. Copy each token and paste it into its relevant **variable field** in your project's **Connect** page.
   {% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Add the Video link to your campaign

Once the relevant tokens have been added, **Copy your video link,** and in your HubSpot email campaign, paste it into any clickable element (e.g., image or button).

(Your tokens are baked in the video link, so each recipient sees a video made just for them)

# Salesforce Marketing Cloud Integration Guide

### **Using personalization strings in Salesforce Marketing Cloud**

In Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC), personalization strings let you insert subscriber attributes (like first name, email, or custom fields) into your messages. To use them in Blings:

1. Open any **email** in Content Builder or Email Studio.
2. Click to edit a text block.
3. In the toolbar, click **Personalization → Insert Attribute** (sometimes shown as *Insert → Personalization String*).

   <figure><img src="/files/haaFFlfGY6N8ykvzJER1" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
4. Select the attribute you want (e.g. First Name).
5. The token will appear inline as a token. For examples: First Name → `%%FirstName%%`
6. Copy the token and paste it into the relevant variable field in the Blings **Connect** page.

For more details, see [Salesforce’s guide](https://www.salesforce.com/eu/marketing/email/personalization/)

### Using Merge Fields in Salesforce CPQ

In Salesforce CPQ, your template content can store fields that show field values from different objects. These merge fields are automatically updated in your content when the referenced field is updated on the other object. This process is useful if you want template content to reflect changes made elsewhere in your org.

<div align="left" data-with-frame="true"><figure><img src="/files/Id7mYtAPdlYsXVRELeqm" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

1. In the toolbar, click "Insert Merge Field."
2. In the Merge Field window, select the relevant Merge Field and insert it into your email.

# ActiveCampaign Integration Guide

### Step 1: **finding personalization tags**

1. Open any **campaign** or **automation email** in the editor.
2. Click to edit a text block.
3. Click **Personalization Tags** to open the Menu.
4. Choose the field you want (e.g., First Name, Last Name, Email, or a custom field).
5. The token is inserted as a token into the text block. For example: First Name → `%FIRSTNAME%`

<div data-with-frame="true"><figure><img src="/files/9rE92RxfICshMa53BNMV" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

6. Copy the token and paste it into the relevant **variable field** in the Blings **Connect** page.

<div align="left" data-with-frame="true"><figure><img src="/files/CileXDrqHyl9SL9o84hX" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

### Step 2: Adding the Video link

Once the relevant tokens have been added, **copy the video link**\
and paste it into any clickable element (e.g., image or button) in your ActiveCampaign email.

# Mailchimp Integration Guide

### Step 1: **finding merge tags**

Map the dynamic variables you need in the video to Mailchimp merge tags.

* Example: Name → `*|FNAME|*`
* Other common fields you may use
  * Last name: `*|LNAME|*`
  * Any custom audience field: use its merge tag (for example `*|LOYALTY_TIER|*`).
  * For unique per-contact links, create a field and a merge tag, then put it into your URL ([link](https://mailchimp.com/developer/marketing/docs/merge-fields/))
  * Set Default Merge Values ([link](https://mailchimp.com/help/set-default-merge-values/))

<figure><img src="/files/ZPPDWIZR8b19qBqzPvHQ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* Copy Blings' **Video link,** Example `://app.blings.io/abc?name=*|FNAME|*`

# Other CRM Tools Integration Guide

Personalize and send Blings videos from any tool that delivers email or messages. From home-grown platforms to legacy software, niche CRMs, or leading email automation tools — simply map your dynamic field format (brackets, percents, or curly braces) to Blings variables and you’re good to go.

## Step-by-Step Guide

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Create a video in Blings.

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Click "Go live" to open the 'Connect' tab.

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### At the tab's title drop menu, select 'Any other CRM'

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Manually enter your CRM's personalized syntax next to each field

* Examples: `[[FIRST_NAME]]`, `%FNAME%`, `{{customer.name}}`, etc.
* Blings supports any syntax your CRM supports

{% hint style="info" %}
If you're not familiar with the exact token's syntax, go to the email editing area of your CRM, edit a text block, and look for any personalization option in the commands bar,\
Pick the relevant token and copy the result to the relevant field."
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Once field mapping is complete:

Copy the video link and paste it into any link element (e.g. image or button) of your email campaign

<div align="left" data-with-frame="true"><figure><img src="/files/OFdhe1Nrx1zkNEMO93MU" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Send a test to yourself and check that the values are being replaced correctly

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Launch your campaign and monitor Blings analytics for engagement

{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

<details>

<summary>When to Use Zapier or Make</summary>

* If your CRM or system can't natively merge fields, use Zapier or Make to trigger Blings video creation when a contact is added, deal is updated, or a form is submitted.
* Example: A new Google Sheet row triggers Zapier, which generates a Blings link and emails it via Gmail.

</details>

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="Best Practices" %}

* Always preview emails with test contacts.
* Match field names exactly.
* Consider URL encoding on fields like name or company.
  {% endtab %}

{% tab title="Security" %}

* Blings never stores PII; everything is rendered client-side for privacy.
  {% endtab %}

{% tab title="Inter-connectivity" %}

* Need to automate at scale? See [Custom API & SDK Guide](https://github.com/yonatanmn/gitbook/blob/main/pls/blings-pro/blings-sdk-api.md) for enterprise integrations.

# Testing, Previewing & Sharing

Before launching a personalized video campaign, it's essential to test your flow, preview the user experience and choose the best way to share your content. This collection covers everything from previewing scenes to embedding videos and sharing on social media.

<table data-view="cards"><thead><tr><th></th><th data-type="content-ref"></th><th></th><th data-hidden data-card-cover data-type="files"></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Send Test Emails</td><td><a href="/pages/Q2wddxAfPkaaxTMDH2oN">/pages/Q2wddxAfPkaaxTMDH2oN</a></td><td>Verify that personalization and links work by sending yourself a test email.</td><td></td></tr><tr><td>Email &#x26; Messaging</td><td><a href="/pages/goTprnIGNEnXTsRq6GhU">/pages/goTprnIGNEnXTsRq6GhU</a></td><td>Launch videos from email, SMS or chat and follow up with viewers.</td><td></td></tr></tbody></table>

# Preview a Flow

Testing ensures your viewers get the experience you intend. Preview your scenes and flows to check that personalization, logic and design work perfectly.

1. **Open the flow** – Navigate to your project and click the 'Watch Flow' button.
2. **Choose preview mode** – Select 'Single Scene' to focus on a specific part of your flow or 'Full Flow' to watch the entire experience.
3. **Enter sample data** – Manually enter values for data fields (e.g., name, status) or use random test data to see how personalization looks.
4. **Switch devices** – Toggle between desktop and mobile views using the device icons at the top of the preview window.
5. **Test branches** – Click through different options to follow each branch. Make sure conditions lead to the right scenes.

{% hint style="info" %}
Write down the combinations of responses you want to test (e.g., VIP vs. non-VIP, high score vs. low score) to ensure all paths work.
{% endhint %}

# Send Test Emails

Sending yourself a test email helps you verify that merge tags, thumbnails and links appear correctly before you go live.

## Step-by-Step Guide

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Step 1: Generate the personalized link

In the share panel, create the link with data fields (e.g., `?first_name={{ contact.firstname }}`).
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Step 2: Insert into your email tool

Paste the link into a button or image block in your email template.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Step 3: Send a test

Use your email platform's test function to send the email to yourself or a small group. Enter sample values to simulate personalization.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Step 4: Check personalization

Open the email, confirm the text shows the correct name and details, and click the video link to ensure it plays as expected.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Step 5: Verify analytics

Check your Blings analytics dashboard to see if the test view registered.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

{% hint style="info" %}
For dynamic thumbnails, generate a GIF that looks like a playing video. This can increase click‑through rates.
{% endhint %}

Need CRM‑specific instructions? See [Integrations & CRM Guides](/app/integrations-crm-guides).

# Email & Messaging

Email and messaging campaigns are effective channels for delivering personalized videos. Follow these best practices when sending videos through different platforms.

## Distribution Channels

### Email

Embed the link in a button or image. Use merge tags for personalization. Check preview modes to confirm the personalization works.

### SMS / WhatsApp / Chat

Shorten the link using a URL shortener for easier sharing. Include a brief description so recipients know what to expect. Note that dynamic thumbnails may not appear in all messaging apps.

### Follow‑ups

Send a reminder message if the recipient hasn't viewed the video after a certain timeframe. You can automate follow-ups using your CRM's workflows.

## Best Practices

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="Email Best Practices" %}

* Use a compelling subject line mentioning video
* Place the video "above the fold" so it's immediately visible
* Add a play button overlay on thumbnail images
* Test across multiple email clients (Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail)
* Include alternate text for recipients who can't view the video
  {% endtab %}

{% tab title="Messaging Best Practices" %}

* Keep messages brief - focus on the value proposition
* Use URL shorteners like bit.ly for cleaner links
* Add emoji 🎬 to indicate video content
* Follow up with a question to encourage engagement
* Schedule messages during peak engagement hours
  {% endtab %}

{% tab title="Follow-up Strategy" %}

* Wait 24-48 hours before sending reminders
* Reference the video specifically ("Did you get a chance to see the personalized video I sent?")
* Provide an alternative way to access the content
* Add new information in follow-ups to provide additional value
* Limit follow-ups to 2-3 messages to avoid being intrusive
  {% endtab %}
  {% endtabs %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
Remember that some messaging platforms limit message length. Keep your text concise and focus on the call to action.
{% endhint %}

# Social Sharing & Link Previews

Sharing your video on social platforms can generate buzz and organic reach. Control how your link appears in previews to increase clicks.

* **Customize the thumbnail** – Choose an eye-catching image or create a dynamic thumbnail that reflects the viewer's data (for example, showing their name).
* **Add Open Graph metadata** – Set the `og:title`, `og:description` and `og:image` tags in your page's HTML so platforms like Facebook and LinkedIn display the correct preview.
* **Test your preview** – Use tools like Facebook's Sharing Debugger to check what your link looks like before posting.
* **Use short links** – Create a memorable, shareable short link using a URL shortener such as `bit.ly` or `tinyurl`.

{% hint style="info" %}
Social platforms sometimes cache link previews. If you change your thumbnail, add a dummy parameter like `?version=2` to force the platform to fetch the new preview.
{% endhint %}

# Analytics & Reporting

Data‑driven insights help you optimize your personalized video campaigns. This collection explains which metrics matter, how to view scene‑level performance, track conversions, create and export reports, explore future AI insights and configure custom analytics.

# Views & Engagement

Understanding how people interact with your videos is crucial for measuring success. Here are the primary metrics you'll see in your Blings dashboard:

## Definitions

* **Impressions** – The number of times your video or thumbnail is loaded in an email, page or feed. An impression doesn't mean the video was played.
* **Plays** – The number of times viewers click the play button. Plays are usually a subset of impressions.
* **Views (Completions)** – The number of times a viewer finishes watching the main content. Depending on the flow, you can define a view as reaching a specific scene or threshold.
* **Average watch time** – How long viewers stay engaged with your video. Longer watch times indicate higher interest.
* **Engagement rate** – The percentage of impressions that result in a play (plays ÷ impressions).
* **Completion rate** – The percentage of plays that result in a view (views ÷ plays).

Use these metrics to identify which videos grab attention and which need improvement. Comparing engagement rates across different segments (new vs. returning users) can reveal valuable insights.

# Scene‑Level Analytics

Dive deeper by examining performance at the scene level. This helps you see exactly where viewers click, drop off or skip ahead.

## Table Example

| Scene Name             | Avg. Watch Time | Interactions | Drop‑off Rate |
| ---------------------- | --------------- | ------------ | ------------- |
| Welcome Scene          | 15 s            | 85 clicks    | 10 %          |
| Product Recommendation | 12 s            | 60 clicks    | 25 %          |
| Quiz Question 1        | 18 s            | 110 clicks   | 5 %           |

Scenes with high drop‑off rates may need to be shortened, made more engaging or reordered. Scenes with high interaction may indicate successful CTAs or engaging content.

# Conversion Tracking

Conversions are the actions you want viewers to take—signing up for a newsletter, visiting a product page or completing a quiz. Tracking conversions shows how effectively your video drives results.

## Steps to Track Conversions

1. **Define your goal** – "Decide which action counts as a conversion. Examples: clicking a 'Buy Now' button or submitting a form."
2. **Enable tracking** – "In the flow builder, select the button or form and enable conversion tracking. Give it a clear name (e.g., 'Purchase Button Click')."
3. **Assign value (optional)** – "If applicable, assign a monetary or point value to the conversion so you can calculate ROI."
4. **Analyze results** – "Open your analytics dashboard and filter by conversion event to see total conversions and conversion rate."

{% hint style="info" %}
A/B testing different CTAs and button positions can significantly impact conversions. Try variations and monitor the results.
{% endhint %}

# Reports & Exports

Regular reporting keeps your team informed and helps you make data‑driven decisions. Blings provides built‑in reports and the ability to export data.

## List of Capabilities

* **Generate reports** – "Choose metrics (views, engagement, conversions), a date range and any filters (like campaign or region). Generate a report in a few clicks."
* **Share reports** – "Send reports via email to teammates or stakeholders. You can also generate a shareable link."
* **Export raw data** – "Download CSV files of your analytics data for custom analysis or import into BI tools."
* **Integrate with analytics platforms** – "Send your Blings events to tools like Mixpanel, Google Analytics or your own BI platform via API or SDK."

{% hint style="info" %}
Schedule weekly or monthly reports to stay on top of performance without manually pulling data each time.
{% endhint %}

# Upgrading & Downgrading

You can change your plan at any time from your billing settings. Here's how the process works and what to expect.

1. **Open billing settings** – Click 'Workspace settings' and scroll down to 'Plan & Billing.'
2. **Select a new plan** – Select 'Change Plan.' Here you can choose Free or Business. For Enterprise plans, [contact our sales team](https://go.blings.io/meetings/isaac-marrache?uuid=346fddb6-e84c-46e2-a8b6-d12d8694cf7e&_gl=1*hfvtbo*_gcl_au*MTk5NjYxOTQwOC4xNzU0MjQ4NzMwLjk3NDY2ODA1LjE3NTU1Mzc1MzQuMTc1NTUzNzUzNA..).
3. **Confirm change** – Click 'Confirm.' New features unlock immediately; if downgrading, features restricted by the lower plan will remain available until the end of your current billing period.

{% hint style="info" %}
Downgrading to a lower plan can restrict your projects and data. Ensure you're under the new limits or remove excess projects before confirming.
{% endhint %}

# Video Views: Understanding Your Free Views Allowance

#### What counts as a view?

A **view** is counted each time a recipient watches your personalized video. It doesn't matter how the video was delivered. What matters is whether someone actually played it.

#### Free views on the Free plan

Free plan accounts include **500 free views per month.**

#### How the allowance works in practice

Here's a realistic example based on industry benchmarks:

| Step                                    | Number  |
| --------------------------------------- | ------- |
| Emails sent                             | 20,000  |
| Recipients who clicked the email CTA | 600 |
| Recipients who watched the video        | 500     |
| **Views counted toward your allowance** | **500** |

The video doesn't play inside the email. When a recipient clicks the CTA, they're taken to a page where the personalized video loads, just like a regular landing page, but with their video instead.

Not everyone who clicks will watch. Some recipients may close the tab before the video loads. In this example, 500 out of 600 clickers actually played the video, a realistic drop-off to account for in your planning.

> **Key insight:** Your view count is driven by your audience's engagement, not by how many emails you send. A highly engaged list will consume your free views faster than a large but less engaged one.

#### Your allowance is shared across all campaigns

The 500 monthly free views apply to your entire account, not to individual campaigns. Whether you run one campaign or ten, all video plays count toward the same pool.

For example, if you run three campaigns in a month and they generate 200, 200, and 150 views respectively, you've used all 500 free views, even though no single campaign hit the allowance on its own.

#### What happens when you exceed your allowance?

Nothing breaks. Your recipients can still watch their videos without any interruption. The only difference is that videos will open with a short Blings-branded label at the start. Everything else, personalization, interactivity, playback, works exactly as normal.

#### When does the allowance reset?

Your free views count resets on your billing cycle date each month.

One thing worth knowing: email engagement is front-loaded. Most clicks and video plays happen within the first hours or days after a campaign goes out. So if you're approaching your allowance, you'll likely see the impact right after sending. You won't have to wait weeks to understand where you stand.

#### Tips for managing your free views

**Segment before you send.** Target your most engaged contacts first, those most likely to click and watch. This helps you get the most value from your free views allowance.

**Monitor your usage.** Keep an eye on your view count in the dashboard before launching large campaigns.

**Plan for high-engagement sends.** With a 3% CTR and typical drop-off rates, 20,000 emails can consume your entire monthly allowance in a single campaign. If you're running multiple campaigns in the same month, factor in the combined view count.

#### On the Business plan?

The Business plan works differently. It includes 1,000 free views per month, with additional views available beyond that. [See how views work on the Business plan →](https://app.notion.com/p/Gitbook-500-views-article-2efe6055dab580e88e6feab80c7d0dd4#)

{% endhint %}

# Overage & Usage

If your campaign is a big hit, you may exceed your plan's monthly view limit. Overage fees ensure your videos keep playing without interruption.

| Plan | Overage Fee per Extra View | Volume Discount |
| -------------- | -------------------------- | ----------------------- |
| **Basic**      | $0.10                      | None                    |
| **Business**   | $0.05                      | 10% off for >100K views |
| **Enterprise** | Custom pricing | Negotiated per contract |

A view is counted when a viewer starts playing your video. Overage fees are billed at the end of your cycle. You can track your usage in [Usage & Quotas](/app/account-workspace-management/usage-quotas) and receive alerts when you approach your limit.

* Views Count:
  * What happens if I’ll exceed my free plan’s 1,000 views (For Free plan) (Viewers will see a modal before the video play) Corrie, LMK if you need to understand that.
  * What happens if I’ll exceed my 5,000 views limit (For Business plan)
  * How can I prevent exceeding the views limit?

# Canceling your Plan

1. **Open billing settings** – Click 'Workspace settings' and scroll down to 'Plan & Billing.'
2. **Cancel plan** - Here you can cancel or downgrade the plan.

## What happens once I have Canceled my plan?

When you cancel your Blings subscription, your plan will not renew at the end of your current billing period. However, your access to features does not end immediately.

#### What You Can Expect:

**Continued Access Until End of Billing Period**

You’ll retain access to all features and benefits included in your current plan tier (e.g., Free, Business, Enterprise, etc.) through the end of your billing cycle.

**Charges for Extra Usage Still Apply**

If your account generates additional usage (such as views beyond your plan’s included amount), you will still be charged for that overage, even after cancellation, until the billing period ends.

**Campaign Management Reminder**

While your account remains active:

* We recommend pausing or stopping any live campaigns before your billing period ends.
* This ensures there’s no unexpected interruption when your plan fully expires.<br>

After the billing period ends, your account will be downgraded to the Free tier (unless you’ve chosen a different plan), and features specific to your previous tier will be disabled.

# Security & Compliance

Your trust is our top priority. Blings uses client‑side rendering, strong encryption and rigorous data protection policies to safeguard your information. This collection explains how our technology keeps data private, outlines compliance with regulations, describes security features, sets content guidelines and clarifies data retention.

<table data-view="cards"><thead><tr><th></th><th data-type="content-ref"></th><th></th><th data-hidden data-card-cover data-type="files"></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Client‑Side Rendering &#x26; Privacy</td><td><a href="/pages/UtY1JpWIjRdQw7SR1LJy">/pages/UtY1JpWIjRdQw7SR1LJy</a></td><td>See how MP5 keeps personal data on the viewer's device.</td><td></td></tr><tr><td>GDPR &#x26; CCPA Compliance</td><td><a href="/pages/LbnKZVu2U9VU8HAAlkna">/pages/LbnKZVu2U9VU8HAAlkna</a></td><td>Understand your rights to access, delete and export data.</td><td></td></tr><tr><td>Content Moderation &#x26; Acceptable Use</td><td><a href="/pages/Rk4uvPKN2Grf2YwkMJuK">/pages/Rk4uvPKN2Grf2YwkMJuK</a></td><td>Follow our guidelines to keep content safe and appropriate.</td><td></td></tr><tr><td>Data Retention &#x26; Export</td><td><a href="/pages/2jMqKWMesWRYrrmGowjo">/pages/2jMqKWMesWRYrrmGowjo</a></td><td>See how long data is stored and how to delete or export it.</td><td></td></tr></tbody></table>

# Client‑Side Rendering & Privacy

Blings MP5 technology renders videos on the viewer's device. Personal data is merged into the video in the browser and never leaves the user's environment.

* **Data stays local:** Personal information used to personalize the video is not sent to Blings servers during playback.
* **Reduced server risk:** Because personal data never travels to our servers for rendering, the risk of a server‑side data breach is minimized.
* **Real‑time updates:** The video reflects real‑time data from your systems without exposing that data externally.

When analytics are enabled, only anonymized events—such as a view or button click—are sent back to Blings for reporting. **These events do not include personally identifiable information**.

# GDPR & CCPA Compliance

Blings complies with major privacy regulations such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). This means your users have rights to access, delete and transport their data.

* **Access** – Users can request a copy of their data by contacting support through your organization. We will provide all data stored on Blings systems related to that user.
* **Deletion** – Upon request, we will delete personal data from our systems within the legally required timeframe. Note that you must also remove data from your own CRM or marketing platform.
* **Portability** – Data can be exported in a machine‑readable format (e.g., CSV) if a user requests to transfer it elsewhere.

To submit a privacy request, contact our support team through the [Support & Contact](/app/changelog-blog-support/support) page. Include the user's email address or unique identifier so we can locate their data.

# Security Features

Blings provides robust security measures to keep your content and accounts safe.

* **Two‑Factor Authentication (2FA)** – Add an extra layer of security by requiring a one‑time code in addition to your password.
* **Single Sign‑On (SSO) & SCIM** – Use your corporate identity provider (e.g., Okta, Azure AD) to manage user access and provisioning on Enterprise plans.
* **Encryption** – All data in transit is encrypted with HTTPS. Data stored on our servers is encrypted at rest.
* **Secure Hosting** – Our infrastructure partners meet stringent security standards such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001.

{% hint style="info" %}
Enable 2FA in your account settings to protect your account from unauthorized access. For SSO setup, see the documentation in the [Blings Pro – Studio & Developer Tools](https://github.com/yonatanmn/gitbook/blob/main/pls/blings-pro/README.md) collection.
{% endhint %}

# Content Moderation & Acceptable Use

Blings aims to foster a safe and respectful environment for all users. The following items are prohibbited from use on Blings:

* Hate speech, harassment, threats or violence.
* Pornography, sexually explicit or otherwise adult content.
* Misleading, fraudulent or deceptive materials (e.g., fake testimonials).
* Illegal activities, including the sale or promotion of restricted goods.
* Malware or malicious code embedded within videos.

We review reported content and reserve the right to remove videos or suspend accounts that violate these guidelines. For more details, read our full Terms of Service.

# Data Retention & Export

Data retention determines how long Blings keeps your analytics and imported data. Export options allow you to retain your data independently.

* **Default retention:** Blings retains analytics data for 12 months. Older data is automatically deleted to protect privacy and maintain system performance.
* **Custom retention:** Enterprise customers can specify custom retention periods as part of their contract.
* **Export options:** At any time, download a CSV of your data—including analytics events and imported data—through the data management interface.
* **Deletion:** When you delete a project, all associated data is removed from Blings servers. Deleting user data (via GDPR/CCPA requests) permanently removes their information.

{% hint style="info" %}
Regularly export your data if you need to keep records beyond the default retention period.
{% endhint %}

# About Blings

Welcome to Blings! Our patented MP5 technology renders videos on the viewer’s device using edge computing. This gives you unprecedented control over personalization, interactivity and privacy. This collection will walk you through the basics, from understanding MP5 videos to setting up your account and workspace.

# What Are MP5 Videos?

MP5 is the next evolution of video. Instead of streaming a pre‑rendered file, Blings treats video as a code. When a viewer presses play, our client‑side SDK merges a video template with real‑time data to render the video on the user’s device.

## Why MP5 is different

<details>

<summary>Edge Computing</summary>

MP5 videos are rendered right on the end user’s device. This means there’s no waiting for a server to process personalized content. Video playback is instantaneous and scales effortlessly without adding server load.

</details>

<details>

<summary>HTML‑Based Structure</summary>

An MP5 video is built with an HTML‑like structure. Developers can layer interactive elements, animations and logic just like they would on a web page. This unlocks features that aren’t possible with a static MP4.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Real‑Time Personalization</summary>

MP5 pulls viewer data in real time. A customer named Alex will read, ‘Hi Alex!’ while a viewer named Rana sees ‘Hi Rana!’—all from the same template. Updates in your CRM are reflected instantly without re‑rendering a video.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Lightweight Design</summary>

Each MP5 file is tiny—around 60 KB. Because the heavy lifting happens on the viewer’s device, your website and emails load quickly, even with personalized content.

</details>

## Where to use MP5

* Personalized onboarding videos that greet new customers by name.
* Transactional updates that reflect the latest order status or renewal date.
* Dynamic product recommendations based on browsing or purchase history.
* Interactive quizzes that branch viewers to different endings based on their responses.
